Thoughtful vs thoughtless baby gifts!

I'm sure all of you new mums have received a dud baby gift before! A baby hamper filled with unusually random items! Why isn't there more thought going into stylish baby gifts? Surely it's worth spoiling a friend, family member, special client expecting a baby, or staff member taking maternity leave. They will always remember the beautiful gifts they received as it's such an important time in their lives, I certainly did.

That's why we have so much joy in doing what we do ... curating beautiful baby hampers for new Mums. Being mothers ourselves and rooted in the fashion industry our boxes are filled with stylish and sought after baby gifts but always with practicality in mind. We love to support local and Australian baby labels wherever we can.

Starting with the glossy red box we bring the joy back into gift giving. They feel pampered as they open their impeccably wrapped box to reveal luxurious gifts in fine foil tissue. We've choreographed the true gift experience where quality and small details matter. Because that's what says 'we think you're special'.

Over the weekend we had fun styling and shooting our new season autumn/winter hampers which we're excited to have now live on our website. Hope you can find a thoughtful gift to spoil a new mum and baby.

Happy Shopping!

Spoil a new mum with a gift hamper for her

October finds us packing lots of baby hampers to send out to all the clever new mummies and newborn babies. This spring/summer we have added many more pampering products to make up some new and exciting baby hampers 'for her'. Perfect to spoil someone going on maternity leave, a baby-moon, having a baby shower, or having just delivered a newborn baby.

Having just had a baby myself and being able to road test the products means they come highly recommended from I think a reliable source! Have a silk eye mask to slip on, to catnap or to block out the lights at night, its an absolute must! Spoil yourself with a fresh new pair of pyjamas, a sweet smelling body wash and indulgent face cream to send your body a nurturing message 'You are important too'.

I love those days in hospital post-birth, where you are in a little love bubble with your newborn baby, oblivious to the outside world. It makes it even more gorgeous if your loved ones gift you some pampering treats to remind yourself, as a new mother, it's important to take care of yourself as well.

For all three babies I have endeavoured to create a calm, enriching space for them to enter into the world and I'm sure it has made a difference to their start in life.

Here are some ideas to create your own bubble. Make a playlist with your favourite classical music as it calms the nerves and de-sensitises situations that can feel stressful or overwhelming. Try battery operated candles by the bed and bassinet to avoid the harsh florescent lights. Use a relaxing room mist to freshen up the air, especially with the flow of people coming in and out of hospital (the 'do not disturb' sign can also be handy here).

Hospital checklist; extra niceties that make your time in hospital with a new baby more pleasant. New toiletry bag, BB cream, lip gloss, mascara, Mecca Rosewater Facial Spray, hand cream, body wash, body moisturiser, shower cap, Kevin Murphy Dry Shampoo, battery candles, new pyjamas, breastfeeding cover/generally cosy wrap, slip silk eye mask and pillow case, calming music playlist, basket of snacks.. dark chocolate, berries, nougat..

Bringing a baby into the world is a very special time made more special by the love and support of those around you.

Right Royal Retail Success Story

The Courier-Mail - 15th August 2015.

IF YOU’RE searching for a gift fit for a royal baby, look no further than Little Kisses hampers.

The online baby gift service boasts an impressive celebrity clientele including Prince George, Megan Gale, Carrie Bickmore and Mia Freedman who have all received one of the brand’s iconic monogrammed red boxes.
Combining high-end style with top-of-the-line products parents will actually want and need, owner Rachel Moor has built an international reputation as the go-to gift service for new bubs.
After operating three successful bricks and mortar boutiques Kisses and Little Kisses for 19 years, Ms Moor decided the future was online and opened Little Kisses web store.
“Being online we’ve been able to offer more specialised products and a 360 shopping experience,” Ms Moor said.
“It’s also opened up a whole new market for us rather than just being restricted to our suburbs and its surrounds.”
Ms Moor said social media has also had a big part to play in her brand’s expansion with a big push towards shopping through Instagram and Pinterest.
“That’s now our shop window,” she said.
“Customers are armed with so much retail knowledge now, they do a lot more research about what they want and what’s out there before they come to you.”
Ms Moor has helped counsel hundreds of women on what they need to welcome a new baby and introduced international labels such as Stella McCartney and Vanessa Bruno to Queensland.
The hampers come prepacked or can be customised with items, like those gifted to Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Ms Moor even heard back from Prince William and Kate Middleton who were apparently “delighted” with the gifts.

The Three Boxes

I am the mother of three children and I love them all equally, but when I look at the top of the wardrobes I see that they are not equals.

My first-born has an enormous baby keepsake box (two in fact), which are filled to the brim with cards, pictures, photos and general memorabilia to celebrate her arrival into the world. My second child has a much smaller one, filled with fewer cards, fewer welcome letters and fewer mementos to celebrate her arrival. My third child has a shoebox. This is filled with a few keepsakes and a lot of tissue paper to give the appearance of it being full to the brim.

In the area of keepsakes I feel like a complete failure when I compare myself to my girlfriend who has the perfect baby keepsake box for each of her three children. All are of equal size and they include the newspaper and magazines from the day they were born. In years to come her children will be able to flick through the papers and gain a real insight into the fashion of the time; who were the world leaders, what celebrities were doing, what were cooking and what cars we were driving. The final keepsake piece is the toy of the day, an untouched Barbie, still in its box and the Lego figurine for that year. They are a wonderful treasure trove to celebrate the arrival of her children.

I am always tempted when I look at my children's baby keepsake boxes to either add to the them, or in a clean up frenzy tempted to throw out some of the things that have found their way in the keepsake treasure trove. I have tried my girlfriends perfect treasure box, but a rainy day saw me rip off the top of the neatly packaged Barbie Doll and that was the end of that. All I can suggest is to find what works for you.

My two eldest love nothing more than pulling down their baby boxes to re-read the cards and look at the mementos. What’s in the baby keepsake box, is theirs, and they treasure the memories that I have created for them. It may not be perfect or look as pretty as others – but the memories in there are special to them. My third child thinks his baby box is pretty special, and despite it being a bit light on with keepsakes, he considers it to be much better than the others as it contains his very first pair of soccer boots and that’s the greatest memory of all!

Precious Memories

Having children seems to do funny things to you!

Two experiences I had with my first pregnancy and child that doesn’t seem so apparent the second time around is the strong nesting instinct that engulfed me and how much my soft sentimental side came out. When I was pregnant for the first time I had a strong urge to clean, wash and rewash brand new baby clothes, reorganize closets, colour code bookshelves, label the linen cupboard, merchandise the pantry the list goes on and on. I’ve since read up on this strange behavior and learned that it’s a pre-labor ritual going back thousands of years that helps you get your home ready for a baby and pass the time. With limited time due to chasing around a toddler, nesting will be carried out on a needs basis only this time around!

The other thing that happened to me was I became a complete sentimental softy. I could cry at the site of something cute or sad, I hoarded all the cards that related to the arrival of the new baby, photos, baby shower paraphernalia, knitted booties, first beanie, documented first words and steps. I was desperate to bottle up this precious time and to preserve the moment. As I embark on my second pregnancy with less time to spend on gathering and documenting the journey I know just tucking away little mementoes at the time will be enough to trigger a myriad of memories and hopefully stop these babies growing up so fast.

I look forward to the day when my children show interest in what’s inside their special keep-sake boxes and we can travel down memory lane together.

Baby Hampers ›   Elizabeth Clarke ›   Luxuriate ›

“What would Kate do?”

Sometimes I ask myself, “What would Kate do?”

I can’t help but look to our elegant Duchess for guidance of the royal, yet very real, variety. She is a woman of stylishly-thrifty ways (only she can make Reiss look like Rodarte).  With several friends expecting, who else would I turn to for luxe but practical tips and gift ideas than Kate?

Or perhaps we should call her ‘Kate of the Lindo Wing’. Oh how I loved reading about her hospital stay; brief as it was. I remember my days in the maternity wing with its stiff sheets, shared bathroom and overcooked carrots. It would be fair to say that Kate and I had very different hospital experiences.

I want my loved ones to have what Kate had - the 5-Star luxury, stylish accruements and sleep and beauty benefits. All of course without the nightly price tag.

So here is what my pregnant loved-ones can expect come labour day - all in the manner of Kate the Great with the help of Little Kisses Luxuriate Baby Hamper.

Slip silk eye mask : Because, despite the dirty laundry and overflowing sink, one should sleep whilst the baby sleeps. I’m sure Carol ensures Kate does. This little slip-of-a-thing is pure silk, so feels utterly divine to wear. Plus it gives absolute blackout which is essential for catching some shut-eye during daylight hours.

Slip silk pillow case :  A MUST for anyone lucky enough to have Kate-esque hair. Why? As you sleep, you slip and slide seamlessly over the silk, eliminating any chance of unslightly bed hair. I mean, who has time to blow-dry one's hair in hospital? It is also fantastic for avoiding eye wrinkles -  all the good beauty therapists recommend it. Not that this is an issue for Kate… yet. Bet Carol has one though.

Vanilla scented battery-operated candle : Who doesn’t love a beautiful travel candle? No matter how sterile the surrounds, a whiff of something delicious always makes you feel at home. Yet lighting a match in the maternity ward? I doubt the Lindo would allow it. So I give you this awfully clever battery-operated candle. It flickers as if there were a flame, and imparts the most delicious hint of vanilla. All without putting the entire ward at fire-risk. Brilliant!

Spun Scarf : I adore a scarf and notice Kate does too. We have that at least in common. This fabulously sheer, colourful version is perfect for adding a little zip to a tired, drawn, sleep-deprived face. It also doubles as a stylish nursing cover when one needs a little privacy. Also makes a fashionable keep-sake for the chic new mother.

Aromatherapy room spray : I have a hunch the Lindo Wing smells rather gorgeous. No doubt it heaves with the scent of gardenia, rose and hyacinth. For the hospital room lacking this fabulous sensory overload, this heavenly room spray should do just the trick. Pinging with delectable essential fragrances of orange and jasmine, it deodorises whilst freshens the deadliest of rooms. It is organic, so very gentle for new born noses. It makes for the perfect pep-me-up or room freshener come visiting hour.
